Craft, Cake and 'come buy me!'

Evening Lovelies
This blog is all about The Contemporary Craft Carnival last weeked (20th July) at The Post House, Stafford. The amazing, inspiring lady above in the blue tea-shirt is Lyn Barrington who has done some blooming amazing work for the charity and whom is one of the ladies behind organising the event. And what a first event it was! I think it was over 500 people that came through the door that day, looking and buying from all the talented stall holders. There was a bloody great raffle (I didn't win the Jan Constantine cushion! :( !), goody bags, activities for the children to name but a few. It was Lyn's and the other ladies first event and I had to support- all the money raised from stallholders, raffle etc went to the charity. Lyn is such an inspiration- I will not go into details on here (unless you want me to Lyn) but it is a charity very close to Lyn and me also-my mother in law had lung cancer so it is a charity that I wanted to support. I can't wait for the November Christmas one- it will be a good one if this first event is anything to go by. So make sure you are there if you can and support this very worthwhile charity on 11th November 2013.

I am not a professional photographer by any means, but here are a few pictures from the day then. Pop by and show your support to the people behind the work too, if you wouldn't mind. Everyone there is so talented. I've put their facebook links at the end. I've also put a link to the charity's website too. Lung Cancer is a silent disease that sometimes can go unnoticed and we need to do all we can to eradicate this terrible cancer.

Didn't we have a lovely time the day we went to... Ingestre Hall

Hello everyone,

A bit of a late post this one as we were at Ingestre Hall last month but life has been a bit hectic here! So anyway, here are a few pictures from the Summer Carnival organised by Sarah Roberts. It was Sarah's first event and it was really, really good. Well organised, brilliant activities for family and children and lots of lovely stalls- including mine! Well done sarah for organising such a great weekend. I can't wait for the Christmas one! You can find Sarah's facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1811592090&fref=ts

The beautiful, historic Ingestre Hall

You can find more about Ingestre Hall here: https://www.facebook.com/ingestrearts?fref=ts It really is an amazing place and now runs residential workshops for schools and other educational settings.

The very talented Ruth Allen was exhibiting all weekend, too. Accompanied by her lovely sister, Vee:

Ruth and I.

You can visit Ruth's website her to purchase her amazing artwork. I had to treat myself to one and now it is gracing my living room wall. Beautiful. http://www.ruthallenart.co.uk/

So whilst we were there, a husband and wife musical pair were providing percussion workshops for the children. At the start of the day, the husband came round playing the accordian! Fab. Unfortunately I do not have his link but here is a picture of him:

Also at Ingestre was Jen Newall. She makes amazing stained glass art, again- 2 pieces made their way to my home and now they hang and shimmer in this beautiful summer sunshine. Here is Jen's page- another one well worth a look: http://www.loveartstudios.co.uk/ and here: https://www.facebook.com/jennynewall.stainedglass.

So what a great time we had at Ingestre Hall. Met lots of lovely new people, made some new friends, purchased some beautiful original artwork (thanks Ruth and Jen) and ate and drank some  artisan, locally produced food. A smashing time.
'Best House' rosette made for Jen Newall. I always get embarrased with photographs!

Wooden step ladders given a new lease of life instead of going to landfill. Makes a perfect display for my bags. You can also see Ruth Allen's amazing artwork in this picture.

Sewing at my stand!

Some of the outdoor marques setting up on the first day.

See you next time! Thanks for reading and please do leave a comment. xx Jill xx
